The redevelopment project will provide new acute care, education, teaching and research facilities for RNSH at a cost of about $702 million.
The primary aim of the Concept Plan is to facilitate the redevelopment of the hospital from an outmoded and dispersed set of buildings, into a compact state-of-the-art facility on the western side of the campus.
The Concept Plan will also provide guidance for complementary development options on the balance of the site including:
-
The provision of additional private health services
-
A range of new landscaped open spaces
-
A publicly accessible heritage precinct
-
Public roads and pedestrian access including a direct link into St Leonards station
-
New retail, commercial and residential facilities.
