Community Building
The Joint Venture recognises that to achieve a vibrant and sustainable community there is a need to strategically assess how Northgate Stage Three: Precinct One will meet the needs and expectations of its future residents. A primary objective for Northgate Stage Three: Precinct One is to create a true sense of place and a feeling of belonging for a diversity of lifestyles and ages.
The community consultation process is an important first step in creating links and partnerships with community organisations and other stakeholders who can help to build a sense of community in Northgate Stage Three: Precinct One. Community engagement will continue beyond the project's initial stages and will be an on-going feature of the Joint Venture's involvement in Northgate.
The Joint Venture committed to a range of community building initiatives including:

Creating a community plan to facilitate participation and support structures in Northgate Stage Three Precinct One and ensure the timely delivery of a range of services and community facilities

Establishing a community development program to take a proactive approach to supporting residents of Northgate Stage Three: Precinct One and to help create a vibrant and resilient community

Delivering a sustainability education program to provide new residents with a greater understanding of the lifestyle choices that will support the environment

Creating active open spaces including bike and walking paths

Providing community focal points and a community garden

Developing partnerships with local organisations and groups to deliver community development and community support to residents of Northgate Stage Three: Precinct One

Using the Heart Foundation's Healthy by Design guidelines to foster a healthy and safe community
