Over the next 5 years it is proposed to develop a new community comprising about 690 dwellings at Lyons. Of these, approximately 300 lots will be developed by the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) to accommodate existing and relocated defence families in Darwin.
The balance of lots not required by DHA for defence housing will be marketed by CIC for private purchase.
A VISION FOR LYONS
Lyons will become the benchmark for residential community development in Darwin , establishing a distinctive, high quality living and recreational environment grounded in community need and market reality.
Future residents will benefit from well-planned, attractive neighbourhoods that provide convenient access to daily needs and respect Darwin 's tropical climate. The built environment and associated lifestyle of Lyons will play a key role in the creation of community pride and set exceptional standards in residential estate housing. Leafy streetscapes and landscaped parklands, drawing their essential character from the coastal landscape of Lee Point , will provide settings for relaxation and play.
The master plan concept represents a holistic approach to neighbourhood design, architecture and landscape solutions - an approach that embraces the setting and provides a range of lifestyles and affordability.
The core community development objectives of sustainability, integration, connectivity and quality of lifestyle are central to the Joint Venture's vision for Lyons
