Stormwater Education and Environment Program

Elton Consulting worked with Hastings Council to design and develop community education activities to explore:

  • Local environmental issues of concern, with particular focus on local waterways
  • Possible causes and contributing contexts
  • How the community can be involved
  • What might be done to address these issues.

A survey of the community and businesses was conducted to explore what people know, think and do about local water pollution. Survey results informed the development of a community education campaign to address the key issues of concern and share information about positive ways to change behaviour.

A series of activities helped to promote the ways that everyone can help to prevent water pollution – at home and work. The emphasis was on developing sustainable solutions that can be supported across Council, the community and small businesses.
