Master Planning for the Port Douglas Waterfront

This project took the form of a long term engagement process involving five distinct phases of consultation to create a master plan for Port Douglas water front. Elton Consulting undertook a wide range of consultation activities over a three year period.

This included:

  • Project Advisory Group meetings
  • A guiding principles workshop
  • Enquiry by Design Workshops
  • Community Information and Feedback Sessions
  • A public exhibition and submission period
  • A communications strategy.

Consultation produced nine key guiding principles for design work. Community members and the project team utilised these guidelines to create a waterfront master plan. The project has been recognised for its thorough application of leading planning principles to an iconic waterfront location.
