Transport
The site is one of the best located areas in Sydney for public transport.
The Concept Plan builds on these advantages by proposing the following :
- A direct, safe, relatively level walkway from the hospital to St Leonards station. The proposed main entrance to the hospital will be less than half the current walking distance to the station.
- Increased connectivity with surrounding streets.
- Introducing further bus routes into the campus to service the hospital and other related developments.
NSW Health engaged traffic experts, Masson Wilson Twiney, to prepare a detailed and co-ordinated approach to traffic, parking and transport for the site:
- Management of traffic through the site so pedestrians can move freely and safely
- Encourage public transport use by enhancing convenient access to rail and bus networks, and ensuring internal roads are navigable by buses
- Provide adequate on site car parking in a way that maintains pedestrian safety and the quality of public space and built form.
